UNANIMOUSLY RESOLVED that:
The application for City approval in order to permit building work within a Heritage Protection Overlay Zone, in respect of erf 27714, Cape Town, Observatory BE APPROVED in terms of Section 98(b) of the City of Cape Town Municipal Planning By-Law, 2015.

REASONS FOR DECISION
The MPT APPROVED the application for the reasons set out in the Planner’s Report and agreed to amend as follows:

6.4 The proposal complies with City policy to the extent that it provides for intensified development in an existing urban inner core;

6.7 The proposal is of an appropriate scale and form given the heritage context and is considered to be compatible with the surrounding land uses;

Annexure A:
Add point ‘c’ in paragraph 1.2 to read as follows:
That the applicant is encouraged to further explore the revised treatment of the cube aesthetic of the upper story façade with a better informed interpretation of a historic aesthetic

Add point ‘d’ in paragraph 1.2 to read as follows:
That the applicant shall explore the possibility of incorporating a landscape plan indicating tree planting opportunities on the street edges

Amend last paragraph as follows:
The SDP shall be submitted for approval to the authorised official
