Social Development and Early Childhood Development Department <span><figure class="subtopic-fullsize-img"><img class="responsive" src="" alt="" style="width:960px;" /><figcaption> <p style="padding-left:8px;font-size:16px;">We hold regular <a href="">checks for ECD centre compliance</a> to ensure that Cape Town’s children are receiving the best care.</p> </figcaption> </figure></span><p>​Our department is divided into the following branches:</p><p> <strong>Centralised Operations, Programmes and Project Management Office</strong><br> We aim to provide guidance, develop special projects, plan and monitor integrated programmes and manage centralised functions. We also:</p><ul><li>Develop and conceptualise special projects for implementation</li><li>Develop and monitor of approved framework </li><li>Evaluate programme effectiveness and impact </li><li>Plan integrated programmes in alignment with the <a href="" target="_blank">Social Development Strategy</a></li><li>Manage <a href="" target="_blank">Grants-In-Aid</a>, partnerships and lease agreements </li><li>Research </li></ul><p> <strong>Arts and Culture</strong><br> We develop, implement and maintain community-orientated art, culture and heritage programmes, services, infrastructure and partnerships with the following core functions: </p><p> <strong>Community Cultural Development</strong><br> To plan and implement community and cultural development programmes and events.</p><p> <strong>Cultural Spaces </strong><br> <strong></strong>To provide active, relevant and accessible cultural infrastructure and managing heritage aspects of culture.</p><p> <strong>Partnerships and Promotion</strong> <br> To coordinate and manage grants-in-aid, partnership relations and institutional knowledge.</p><p> <strong>Localised SDECD Area Management </strong><br> The purpose of the SDECD area management is to lead, manage, coordinate and monitor all resources within an area to plan and implement the social development and early childhood development programmes and interventions in communities. This includes:</p><ul><li>Community engagement </li><li>Programme planning and delivery at area</li><li>Implementation of planned integrated programmes </li><li>Implement Early Childhood Development (ECD) framework </li><li>Ward allocations (planning and implementation)</li><li>Stakeholder engagement </li></ul><p>​The Social Development and Early Childhood Development (SDECD) Department aims to create an enabling environment for those who need it most, with a particular emphasis on vulnerable and poverty-stricken groups.
