Volunteer with the Cape Town Environmental Education Trust <span> <h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​Volunteer for the Skills Development Programme​​​​​​​</h2></span> <p> This training programme offers a range of activities and training interventions aimed at assisting youth (typically from low income communities) to gain skills and work experience in the environmental sector, particularly in the Green Economy. </p><p>Volunteers are needed at <a href="https://www.capetown.gov.za/Family%20and%20home/see-all-city-facilities/our-recreational-facilities/Nature%20reserves/False%20Bay%20Nature%20Reserve">False Bay Nature Reserve</a> and <a href="https://www.capetown.gov.za/Family%20and%20home/see-all-city-facilities/our-recreational-facilities/Nature%20reserves/Table%20Bay%20Nature%20Reserve">Table Bay Nature Reserve</a> to help with mentoring and lecturing. We are also calling on business professionals who can help our youth develop soft skills such as managing personal finance, computer use and entrepreneurship. The Skills Development Programme runs Monday to Friday from 07:30 – 16:00.</p> <span> <h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​Volunteer at an environmental education camp ​​​​​​​</h2></span> <p> Environmental education camps are held over a period of three days at the Rondevlei, Zeekovlei and Strandfontein wetlands within the 2 000-hectare <a href="https://www.capetown.gov.za/Family%20and%20home/see-all-city-facilities/our-recreational-facilities/Nature%20reserves/False%20Bay%20Nature%20Reserve">False Bay Nature Reserve</a>. The camps provide a space for children, many of whom come from low-income communities, to reconnect with nature and learn new behaviour that can lead to a cleaner environment, as well as the value of conserving our natural resources. </p><p>Volunteers are needed either during the week or on weekends to help run short day programmes or the longer overnight camps. These positions are best suited for young school leavers and gap year students who enjoy the outdoors and like to work with children. </p> <span> <h2 class="sectHeading">​​​​​​​​​​Volunteer for conservation activities</h2></span> <p> Volunteers may get involved in conservation activities that include working with the endangered African penguin in Simonstown; researching and monitoring eland in Rondevlei; and on-the-ground conservation activities in Strandfontein, Kenilworth racecourse conservation area, Milnerton racecourse conservation area, and Muizenberg East Biodiversity Cluster. </p><p>These positions are best suited to people partaking in biological studies or graduates from this field.
