Apply for agricultural rebates
As from 1 July 2019, the process for applying for an agricultural rebate will change. There is no longer a requirement to apply for an agricultural rebate. In accordance with the Municipal Property Rates Act and the City of Cape Town’s Rates Policy 2019/2020, property that is being used primarily for agricultural purposes will be categorised as agricultural property and will be rated at 20% of the residential rate-in-the-rand.
Apply for free basic water and sanitation for old age homes and shelters
The City provides free basic water and sewerage to old age homes, homeless shelters, and homes for the physically or mentally disabled.
Apply for free water for subsistence farming and food gardens
The City provides a free water allocation to subsistence farmers as well as organisations growing food for vulnerable groups. This extends to organisations with food gardens including orphanages, soup kitchens at schools, indigent old age homes, HIV/AIDS facilities, and facilities caring for women.
