Apply for burial funding from the Executive Mayor for persons 18 years and younger

Apply for free water and sanitation for flats and complexes

If you are indigent and live in a block of flats, cluster homes or in a sectional title complex, you can apply for free water and sanitation from the City. Please note that this only applies to developments that are predominantly residential.

Apply for free water for subsistence farming and food gardens

The City provides a free water allocation to subsistence farmers as well as organisations growing food for vulnerable groups. This extends to organisations with food gardens including orphanages, soup kitchens at schools, indigent old age homes, HIV/AIDS facilities, and facilities caring for women. If you would like to apply, you can follow the process below.

Apply for indigent support

Whether you qualify for indigent support depends on your monthly household income. If your total household income is R7 500 or less per month, you could qualify for a discount on your water, sewerage, electricity, waste collection and property rates.

Apply for rental housing relief

If you are renting a residential unit from the City, you can also apply for additional financial support if you are struggling to pay your rent and qualify for rental housing relief.
