Crime hotspots will see a special deployment of 81 Law Enforcement Facility Protection Officers (FPOs), supported by 200 Facility Protection Monitors. This is in response to rising theft and vandalism of infrastructure, which has doubled to almost R60 million in 2022/23 driven by higher stages of Eskom blackouts. Staff and contractors are also facing regular extortion threats and demands for ‘protection fees’ from local syndicates.

Durbanville Library: 100 not out
The milestone puts Durbanville Library in the distinguished company of several other City of Cape Town libraries that have already passed the 100 year mark.

2023-06-01T22:00:00ZGP0|#1d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70;L0|#01d539e44-7c8c-4646-887d-386dc1d95d70|City news;GTSet|#62efe227-07aa-45e7-944c-ceebacca891d10
