The proud parents also reported that doctors informed them that the swift action helped save their son.
In September, Officer Williams ran into the ocean at Monwabisi Beach to save a young boy from drowning.
He explained they were on routine patrols at the beach when he spotted a person in the waves as two onlookers called for help.

He removed his bullet proof vest and with no time to spare, ran into the sea with his service boots and swam out to the boy.
'The minute I got to him, I felt relieved. I knew he would be okay,’ said Officer Wiliams, who brought the boy safely to shore.
Senior Inspector Thomas was lauded for showing compassion to a deceased animal.
During the incident in Belhar, Officer Thomas who was facing a personal tragedy, was concerned as motorists passed a seemingly deceased animal in the street.

She stopped and picked the animal off the street and contacted the SPCA for assistance. Unfortunately, the dog could not be saved.
‘All three officers showed exceptional courage during trying incidents without question. They simply saw a situation that required their help and sprang into action. I am incredibly proud of them and their selfless deeds. The commendations are a small token of our appreciation for what they have done, the lives they saved and those they’ve assisted,' said Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.
