Cape Town Central Business District (CBD) Local Spatial Development Framework (LSDF)
The Cape Town CBD LSDF will help shape the future spatial planning and development of Cape Town’s economic heartland and create a framework for private and public sectors to work together towards the balanced optimisation of the opportunities in the CBD.
About the Cape Town CBD LSDF
The LSDF includes the development guidelines, based on a detailed understanding of contextual opportunities and constraints.
The CBD LSDF aims to:
- facilitate transition planning that will ensure the CBD’s economic success
- protect and maintain existing investments, while creating new opportunities to transform the area into a more liveable, inclusive and resilient space
- support economic recovery improve accessibility, and
- address future challenges.
It focuses on:
- enhancing precinct/character area development,
- boosting mixed-use development,
- providing residential opportunities across the affordability categories, and
- improving public spaces and infrastructure.
