Apply for an electricity connection

Both the City of Cape Town and Eskom are licensed to supply electricity in the Cape Town municipal area. If you are in a City-supplied area and want to apply for a new or modified electricity connection, follow the process outlined below.

Apply for an upgrade to a new prepaid electricity meter

We are in the process of replacing our old single and three-phase electricity credit meters with new prepaid meters in City-supplied suburbs. The replacement is free of charge and the new meter will ensure more accurate readings, greater usage control and cost management. The replacement is compulsory as the meters belong to the City of Cape Town.
