Through our libraries we aim to encourage lifelong learning and a culture of reading, as well as to provide access to the internet, help with literacy tuition, and support the education needs of students. We have over 750 000 library members across our metro.
Donate materials to City libraries
Donations of materials or resources help communities, especially those from under-served areas, to access secure, modern and well-equipped facilities.
We welcome donations of books, textbooks and study guides, videos and DVDs, electronic media such as computer-based resources and subscriptions to journals, computer facilities, services and software subscriptions such as anti-virus software and career guidance applications. We also seek donations to support literacy and small business support programmes, as well as the construction of computer rooms and computer courses. In addition, we welcome donations for library events, such as help with prizes, games or catering.
Volunteer at your local library
We run a number of library programmes to support learning and literacy in our communities. We ask volunteers to contribute their skills to these programmes.
