Nominate or propose a memorial

Requests for memorials may come from the public, an organisation or from within the City Council itself and are guided by our Memorialisation Policy, which you can find in the document section below.

How to nominate or propose a memorial

You will need to complete and submit both a Memorialisation Nomination Form and a Memorialisation Letter of Consent before we can consider your request. Both can be downloaded from the documents download section.

You will also need to complete a motivation of relevance and significance and inform us of the proposed location of the memorial.

Submit your completed documents to the Executive Mayor’s office.

We assess your nomination according to an internal approval process, which involves the City Council. See our Memorial Approval Process diagram in the document section below for more insights into how we make the decision.
