​A community outreach event was held in Eureka Estate on Saturday, 27 February 2016. In attendance were Ward Councillor Beverley Van Reenen (Ward 25) and Provincial Minister of Safety and Security, Dan Plato.

The gathering was well attended by members of the surrounding and included around 100 youths. Both Minister Plato and Cllr Van Reenen addressed the community regarding the challenges of crime and gangsterism, as well as the importance for the youth to complete their education.

A number of young people from the community then put on various performances including a dance routine, singing and a play with the message to avoid gangsterism.

The event concluded with the distribution of refreshments and gifts that were provided by the ward councillor.
