Water supply disruption in Strand and Gordon’s Bay
27 November 2017
The 80-metre-long pipeline will link the City of Cape Town’s proposed desalination plant in Harmony Park to the bulk water system.
This connection will enable the City to make this plant available, if required.
Some affected areas will experience low water pressure or reduced water supply during this time. A water supply cut may only occur in an emergency or unforeseen situation.
Be prepared
Keep up to 10 litres of drinking water per day for essential usage during this time. Ensure that all taps are closed when not in use to prevent damage or flooding when the supply is restored.
Water tankers will be available at Asanda Village and Asla Business Park to provide water for domestic consumption if required.
Road closures
The construction work will be done on the Steenbras pipeline which runs along Gordon’s Bay Drive. Traffic diversions have been put in place along Gordon’s Bay Drive, between Barracuda and Ebb Streets, and will be in place until Thursday, 14 December 2017.
Please be mindful of the construction activities and approach this stretch of roadway with caution.
