Update on repair of pipe supplying De Novo reservoir

23 December 2021

Due to low levels at Bloekombos Reservoir, the City has been forced to discontinue the supply of water to De Novo reservoir while the normal supply line to De Novo Reservoir is being repaired.

The pipeline that normally supplies De Novo Reservoir was shut down when a burst inside a sleeve underneath the railway line was detected. Trenching will be required to replace the damaged pipe section.

‘Every effort is currently being made to maintain supply to the affected consumers and their assistance in this regard would be greatly appreciated. Lower demand will help maintain the level of reservoirs which have now been put under additional strain.

‘Water tankers will be roaming through De Novo and Belmont Park to provide water for domestic consumption where required.

‘The City regrets the inconvenience caused, and appreciates residents’ cooperation during this time,’ said City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Water and Sanitation, Councillor Zahid Badroodien.
