'City electricity teams have been working night and day to resolve power faults and outages caused by the storm damage. We deployed additional teams to cover the high service request volumes and work on the ground. The majority of network related faults have been fixed and power restored. Work continues in areas where there are still single customer related faults and primarily in areas require law enforcement escorts to accompany the energy teams.

'It has been an extraordinary weather event and we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and thank our customers for their support,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Energy, Councillor Beverley van Reenen.
