Thando, the mobile visitors’ centre, provides tourism tips to more than 70 000 visitors

Thando shares tips with touristsI visited this impressive vehicle at the Cape Town Stadium today where it is sharing great tourist information with the thousands of Cape Town Cycle Tour participants.

The City’s official destination marketing organisation, Cape Town Tourism (CTT), provides extensive visitor information services. Thando is their brainchild and what makes Thando so exciting, is the merger between technology and vast tourism knowledge which has resulted in real-time access to information.
With its mobile facilities, each Thando has the flexibility to support any event, whether outdoors or indoors and offers the following exciting services:
• Free information brochures regarding tourism in Cape Town and the surrounding areas
• Free distribution of the Cape Town Visitor’s Guide that contains a wealth of information on Cape Town’s new activities, hotspots, and a variety of free vouchers to use at various places in the city, which are valid for the year.
• Booking services for accommodation, car hire, tours, activities and transfers
• SANParks reservations as well as My Green Cards and My Activity Cards
• Ticketing services such as Webtickets and Computicket
• Free Wi-Fi in the proximity of the vehicle
• Sale of specialised maps and Cape Town Tourism products
Together with Cape Town Tourism, we are committed to take services to residents and visitors where they are and the deployment of Thando mobile VICs will help us to achieve this.
The tourism and hospitality sectors are vital to Cape Town’s economy. We work hard to attract visitors, both business and leisure tourists, so they spend time and money in our beautiful city, enabling job creation.
Thando will be operating from the Cape Town Stadium for the Cycle Tour and I encourage visitors to go and see for themselves just how much information about what to do in our great city is on offer. We really are spoilt for choice.
