Section of Old Lansdowne Road temporarily closed until further notice

The City of Cape Town will from today, Friday, 21 January 2022, temporarily close a section of approximately 750m of Old Lansdowne Road between Duinefontein and Govan Mbeki Roads in Philippi until further notice. An investigation into possible factors resulting in the road being flooded is taking place. The necessary remedial actions will follow as soon as possible. Read more below:
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes to avoid disappointment.
‘The closure is primarily to safeguard our residents and motorists. We apologise for the inconvenience that this will cause and we are doing everything in our power to have the road reopened as soon as possible. We thank the residents and motorists in advance for their patience and understanding while we are trying to resolve the issue,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Transport, Councillor Rob Quintas
