Visitors to Macassar Beach should please note that the area next to the demarcated bathing area will be temporarily closed next week. This is to allow contractors to remove the intake pipeline, which will be floated from the decommissioned desalination plant at Monwabisi.

The dates have been predicted as favourable to conduct these towing and removal operations in terms of weather conditions.

Beachgoers are advised that the temporary closure of this section is in the interest of their own safety.

The rest of the facilities at Macassar will remain open for public use.

Once the intake pipeline has been fully removed, the City will ensure that the area is restored to the same condition as before.
