Roadworks in Kensington, Windermere and Paarden Eiland

15 January 2025

The City advises road users, businesses and the broader public of roadworks in Kensington, Windermere and Paarden Eiland.

In Kensington and Windermere, the roadworks comprise the pre-treatment of the existing road surface by means of patching and sealing cracks as well as resurfacing. Further work entails:

  • Replacing broken kerb and channels, catchpits and grid covers.
  • Installation of new kerbs and/or channels.
  • Raising manholes to new resurfaced road level where required.

In Paarden Eiland, approximately 650m of guardrails will be installed along Marine Drive (Outbound).

‘Guardrails are designed to stop or redirect vehicles that are leaving the road, protect road users from hazards and will prove to be a safe addition to Marine Drive. The road rehabilitation in Kensington and Windermere forms part of the City’s Pavement Management System identified maintenance. Regular maintenance prolongs the longevity of the City’s road network and ensures that we keep Cape Town moving,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
