The work is planned to take place between 07:00 and 17:30 from Monday to Friday with some weekend work along busier routes.
The road resurfacing will occur along the following roads:
• Repulse Road between Johnston Road and Jane Avenue
• Forbes Avenue between Elwyn Road and Johnston Road
• Elpark Road between Flavia Way and Johnston Road
• Middel Road between Duine Street and Repulse Road
• William Road between Repulse Road and the cul-de-sac on William Road
• Doric Road between Penlyn Avenue and Bellmore Avenue
• Falstaff Road between Penlyn Avenue and Gothic Road
• Carlier Crescent between Gothic Road and Bellmore Avenue
• Chromite Road between William Arendse Road and Bellmore Avenue
• William Arendse Road between Barite Road and Bellmore Avenue
• Weber Crescent
Residents to note that due to the risk of congestion along Repulse Road during the weekday time, sections of the road works have been scheduled as weekend works.
‘Residents in Penlyn Estate and Rylands can look forward to new, fresh looking and well maintained roads once the resurfacing is complete. We thank you for your patience and ask that you continue to cooperate with the teams working in the area in order for them to complete the work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Some congestion along these roads is expected, so where possible we advise residents to make use of alternative routes,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
The City will ensure that flag personnel direct traffic around the work area.
The City’s Road Infrastructure Management Department will be milling out the existing road surfacing and replacing it with a new asphalt road surface. Road markings will be repainted once the road surface has been installed. This work forms part of regular maintenance to prolong the longevity of the city’s road network.
