Road resurfacing along Main Road in Diep River

11 November 2024

The City’s Urban Mobility Directorate would like to advise the public of intended roadworks in Diep River.

‘The purpose of this project is to resurface the roads mentioned above, from the Schaay Road intersection up to Gabriel Road in Plumstead. Physical work will begin this Tuesday. We will be doing this work at night to ensure that there are minimal disruptions during the day. This routine road maintenance project is to keep Cape Town moving and to ensure Diep River road users have good quality roads,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

The project is divided into two sections.

Section 1, between Schaay Road and Francis Road commences this Tuesday, 12 November 2024 and Section 2, between Francis Road and Gabriel Road is scheduled to start in late January 2025. The works will include the milling of roads in preparation for resurfacing, replacing damaged or missing kerbs, repainting retro-reflective line markings, and reinstating traffic signal equipment.

There will be partial lane closures or lane reductions from 19:00 to 05:00 during the course of the project. The road will remain open for daytime traffic between 05:30 and 19:00 each day.
