Resurfacing roads in Khayelitsha
31 March 2025
The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate would like to advise members of the public of roadworks along Ntlazane Road, between Ntsikizi Street and Lindela Street, in Khayelitsha. The work starts today, Monday 31 March 2025, and will continue until Wednesday, 30 April 2025, provided there are no unforeseen delays. The work is scheduled to take place between 08:00 and 16:30, Monday to Friday.
‘Bahlali, sibuyile! This time the purpose of this project is to resurface roads along Ntlazane Road in Khayelitsha. The work will include repairs to existing stormwater catch pits and manholes, the removal of the existing surfacing, and selected base patches, which will be replaced with a new modified surfacing layer. In addition, sections of the pavements will be reinstated and the kerbs and channels will be replaced. All of this is to ensure that we keep Cape Town moving through Khayelitsha roads,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
Once the project is complete, new road markings will also be applied.
Motorists can expect partial lane closures and are asked to adhere to all temporary road signs in the area, or use alternative routes where possible to minimise delays.
