Resurfacing of various roads in Retreat
23 October 2023
The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate hereby advises the public in the Retreat area of roadworks along Vega Road, Spectra Road, Hutchinson Avenue, Corona Road, Pegasus Road, Lyra Road, Auriga Road and Zwaans Road.
The scope of the work to be done includes:
- The installation of new kerbs and channels as well as the repairing of existing and realignment of damaged kerbs and channels.
- Repairing base and surface patches. Raising manholes and trim trees along the road verge. Installing mole barriers.
- Milling the existing road surface and inlay with new asphalt layer.
- All road markings removed during the process will be reinstated.
No roads are expected to be closed although other traffic accommodation methods may be used to regulate traffic around the work area.
'The existing roads are old, with dry surfaces and have base and surface problems. Water is also not draining properly due to damaged storm water channels. We seek to address these problems by resurfacing these roads with new layers of asphalt. The damaged stormwater kerbs and channels will also be repaired and realigned. We thank motorists for their patience as we resurface these roads. Please be mindful of construction workers and factor in longer travel time or consider alternative routes,' said the Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
