Residents requested to reduce non-essential water consumption in the Durbanville and Wellington areas
5 March 2021
The work will require that the Voëlvlei Water Treatment Plant will be offline on WednesdayResidents in the Durbanville, Fisantekraal, Philadelphia, Klipheuwel, Contermanskloof, Wellington and Hermon areas are requested to minimise non-essential water consumption during this time due to reservoirs supplied by the Voëlvlei Water Treatment Plant being filled to maximum capacity.
The work will require that the Voëlvlei Water Treatment Plant will be offline on Wednesday, 10 March from 00:00 until 12:00 on Friday, 12 March 2021, to enable the work to be done safely.
The request for residents to reduce consumption while work is under way is a precaution to minimise strain on the system while the treatment plant is offline.
The Drakenstein Municipality has been informed of the impact of the Voëlvlei Water Treatment Plant on the Wellington and Hermon areas because they are supplied from the Voëlvlei bulk water pipeline.
The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused, but it must maintain its water treatment infrastructure to enable the sustainable supply of good quality drinking water.
