Residents in far south asked to use water sparingly

18 July 2016

The City of Cape Town would like to inform residents in the far south of the metro that the water supply line to the area will need to be isolated which will limit water supply to the area. This is to facilitate the installation of blank flanges on the new 700mm diameter watermain which has recently been installed between Kalk Bay harbour and Clovelly.

The shutdown will take place on the incoming trunk main that supplies all the suburbs within the far south area. The supply will be isolated between 08:00 and 16:00 tomorrow, 19 July 2016.

The Water and Sanitation Department will ensure that all the local service reservoirs will be near full capacity prior to the planned shutdown and as such residents should not be affected. However, we ask that they are conscious of their water use between today and tomorrow evening to allow the reservoirs to fill, reach and maintain full capacity.

The City wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused, and thanks residents for their understanding.
