Residents across the city requested to reduce their water consumption
29 March 2024
The City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate will be shutting down the Blackheath Water Treatment Plant (WTP) for urgent maintenance from 08:00 on Wednesday, 3 April 2024, until midnight on Friday, 5 April 2024.The Blackheath Water Treatment Plant supplies water to a large part of the city, but has to be shut down for urgent maintenance. Alternate water supply will be rerouted from the other water treatment plants to the Blackheath WTP water supply areas for the duration of the shutdown. This may result in temporary reduction of water pressure in some parts of the city.
Residents across Cape Town are kindly requested to reduce their water consumption to ensure the provision of a sustainable water supply during the shutdown period.
The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused, but it is imperative that it maintains its water supply infrastructure to the benefit of its consumers.
