Schaapkraal water upgrade to improve water pressure
Residents in Middle Avenue, Schaapkraal, are set to benefit from improved water pressure through a R1,8 million water pipe upgrade currently under way. The project includes the installation of 1 060 metres of new water pipes.
The project, which started on 29 September 2026, involves installing new 110mm uPVC water pipes. Work is expected to be completed by early December 2026.
The pipes are being installed using the open-trench excavation method, selected based on the available space along the road. The project also includes approximately 17 water connections, 10 fire hydrants and five valves to strengthen the local water network.

During a recent site visit, the City's project team and Councillor Elton Jansen (Ward 43) expressed satisfaction with the progress made on the project.
‘Investing in our water infrastructure is essential to providing reliable services to residents. This upgrade will improve water pressure for properties along Middle Avenue while strengthening the local network to support a reliable water supply. We remain committed to maintaining and upgrading our infrastructure to meet residents’ service needs,’ said Alderman Zahid Badroodien, Mayoral Committee Member for Water and Sanitation.
