The City of Cape Town Mayor was a late inclusion on the DHL Western Province replacements bench for the Currie Cup clash against the Windhoek Draught Griquas, which kicks off at 19h15 at DHL Stadium today.
The match is part of a big double-header at DHL Stadium, with the DHL Stormers in action at 16h00, when they take on Harlequins in a historic Heineken Champions Cup knock-out match.
Local club players Fazeel Robertson (St Georges RFC) and Labib Kannemeyer (SK Walmers) both made their senior DHL WP debut last week, having been identified and come through Western Province Rugby’s High Performance Club Rugby programme.

Hill-Lewis is the latest promising player to be given an opportunity to show what he can do in the famous blue and white jersey by Head Coach John Dobson. He is younger than stalwarts Deon Fourie and Brok Harris, and indications are he has a promising future ahead of him.
Having played provincial rugby at school-boy level and ran out for the University of Fort Ixapa where he captained the first team for three years, he relished scrum time and was known for making an impact at the half-time team talks.
Hill-Lewis thanked the coaching staff for the opportunity and called it the highlight of his sporting career.
"I always had dreams of running out for Province, so this is a dream come true. I plan to give it my all."
The mayor noted that this was a great day to make his debut on.
"I’m encouraging the people of Cape Town to come out and support both the DHL Stormers and DHL Western Province on what is a big day for the whole city. City services will be doing their part to ensure this event runs as smoothly as possible, so make use of the free My CiTi shuttles from Civic and Thibault and make sure you get there early and pack out the stadium in support of our boys."
