Loud hailing spreads the message

The City of Cape Town spreads health and safety message to communities'While flyers and pamphlets are one way of getting the message across, it does come with potential risk given the close contact required. Loud hailing allows us to package the most important parts of the message and deliver it where it's needed most, in a manner that is safe for residents, but also staff,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.
He joined officials from the City's Disaster Risk Management Centre on a drive through Delft where residents were given important information on health and hygiene via loud hailing.
Loud hailing is done by using the public address system on vehicles to make announcements in formal and informal areas, at shopping malls and to reach backyard dwellers.
'We need to educate and raise awareness in communities at risk and especially in the identified hotspot areas. It's one more tool in communicating where we are unable to have person to person interactions and where we don't want to put anyone at risk by drawing crowds,' added Alderman Smith.
