Lighting upgrade improves community safety at Koraalboom Street Park

12 April 2016

Koraalboom Street Park in Blommendal was recently upgraded with public lighting to improve safety for park visitors. The upgrade was not initially scheduled to take place in this financial year, but the City Parks department managed to allocate additional budget to move the project forward.

Eugene Grobler, the chairperson of the Blommendal Neighbourhood Watch, thanked the City for its continuing efforts to improve public amenities for its residents. He also indicated that the improved lighting would assist the neighbourhood watch to conduct patrols and to deter anti-social elements from operating in the area.

Three parks remain without public lighting, and Cllr Brendan Van Der Merwe is supporting the drive to upgrade these parks over the coming financial years.
