For the sixth consecutive year, the Sunshine Ladies Tour season comes to a close in the Mother City with the Investec SA Women's Open.

Having teed up on 8 March at Steenberg Golf Club for the second year, the tournament sees a number of young golfers smashing their way to the top.

After the first two days, South African champion Ashleigh Buhai headlined the tournament and is second on the leader board while German teenager Chiara Noja (just 16 years old) leads the display.

Co-sanctioned with the Ladies European Tour and the Sunshine Ladies Tour, this prestigious professional tournament runs until Saturday, 11 March 2023 and sees 132 international and local women golfers compete for the SA Women's Open crown.

'With international women's sports events such as the Netball Quad Series, International Ice Hockey Federation's Women's Ice Hockey Championships and the T20 Women's Cricket World Cup hosted in the Mother City earlier this year, it is encouraging to see women's golf also receiving some well-deserved attention. The City's support of both the Sunshine Ladies Tour and the Investec SA Women's Open goes back many years and we are thrilled to see the growth of competitive opportunities for international participation. We are extremely proud to be involved with a tournament that is developing the women's game while also nurturing the next generation of the country's top golfers. We're looking forward to continuing our efforts to enable women's sports.' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.

This year is the thirtieth time the SA Women's Open is under way, which coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Sunshine Ladies Tour local circuit.

As these talented women battle it out over 72 holes, the top three professionals on the final Investec Order of Merit will gain automatic entry into the 2024 South African Women's Open tournament.
