Comment on proposed Khayelitsha trading plans
The City of Cape Town invites residents and stakeholders to submit comments on proposed informal trading plans for two sites in Khayelitsha. The public participation process will be open from 29 October to 29 November 2026.
The proposed trading plan for the Khayelitsha Shopping Mall provides for 46 trading bays, while the proposed Thembokwezi Market trading plan provides for 22 trading bays, together with ablution facilities and a storeroom.
These proposed trading plans have been carefully developed by the City's Public Trading officials following extensive engagement with local stakeholders. The plans provide for a total of 68 trading opportunities across the two sites and form part of the City's ongoing efforts to support and regulate trading in appropriate locations.
Residents are encouraged to review the proposals and submit their comments during the public participation period. Public input remains an important part of the process and will assist the City in finalising these proposed trading plans.
