Cape Town rounds off October with a busy weekend
Cape Town is seeing off October in style, with a mix of exciting events this weekend. The City’s Events Permit Office has approved 50 events this week - the majority taking place over the next three days.
Collectively, the weekend events are expected to attract over 200 000 participants and spectators.
'Cape Town's events ecosystem is kicking into high gear as we head into the busy summer season and our Events Permit Office, working with the rest of the City's Events Coordination Committee, are helping to coordinate the logistics and safety for a range of these events.
‘This weekend, we have international test cricket, international test rugby in one part of the city and URC rugby, a traditional Malay choir competition and a first of its kind music and lifestyle festival on the False Bay coast. This speaks to Cape Town's diverse events offering that not only brings different people together, but contributes to our economy,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.

International Test cricket continues at Newlands Cricket Ground today and tomorrow where the Proteas Men are taking on Australia in the series-deciding match.
Gates at the stadium open at 08:45 with the first ball at 10:30.
Residents and motorists in the Newlands and Claremont area are advised that Campground Road between Mariendahl Avenue and Palmyra Road will be closed to traffic until Saturday.
The road closure is active from 08:00 until 21:00.
Motorists are advised to use Main Road onto Stanhope Road and Main Road onto Belmont Road.
Tomorrow, the DHL Stormers host Irish side Ulster in round 5 of the United Rugby Championship at DHL Stadium.

A free MyCiTi shuttle from the Civic Centre will ferry spectators to the stadium from 12:15 with the last bus post-game at 18:45.
The city has made its Civic Centre parking available from 11:45 for spectators with tickets for the game.

The affected roads include Fritz Sonnenberg Road, Stephan Way, Vlei Road and Granger Bay Boulevard.
