FestiveDeedsChallenge – door-to-door tracking in Kewtown, Crossroads to find qualifying homeowners
18 November 2023
The City is going door-to-door to track and handover title deeds to homeowners as part of the newly launched City festive homeownership challenge.
'I’ve gone door-to-door in Kewtown and Crossroads to hand over title deeds to our qualifying homeowners as part of the challenge we have set to make 1 000 new homeowners by the end of December. Door-to-door visits, along with community events and enlarging our tracking and tracing beneficiaries to meet the challenge are some of the latest interventions that we have put in place to shift gears in our housing delivery.
‘We’ve set aside a total of some R21,6 million this year to deliver title deeds. The Directorate currently has more than 12 000 title deeds on its registry and our Festive Deeds Challenge sets the bar higher, asks us to do more and do things differently. The time is now and we encourage all our beneficiaries to come forward if they were meant to receive a title deed but have never received one. A title deed is so important, it is proof of ownership and property ownership unlocks many opportunities,’ said Councillor Carl Pophaim.
More events, door-to-door visits are planned across the metro over the coming weeks as City teams move to meet the challenge head on.
Beneficiaries who have never received a deed, are encouraged to visit:
