Extension of water supply disruption to Scott Estate, Hout Bay
8 October 2021
A water tanker will be stationed in Promenade Street in Hout Bay, to assist with water for domestic consumption where required.
The City’s Water and Sanitation Department connected the newly installed water supply pipeline to the existing network as planned on Thursday, 7 October 2021. However, during the completion and commissioning of the network, it was found that a leak had occurred further along the pipeline. The control valve on the existing pipeline also became inoperable, necessitating that the network be shut down again to enable the construction crew to do the work safely and in the shortest possible time.
Preparatory work has already commenced to repair the leak in the morning as well as to replace the faulty control valve.
A water tanker will be stationed in Promenade Street in Hout Bay, to assist with water for domestic consumption where required. Residents collecting water from the tanker must ensure that they wear masks and observe social distancing in compliance with the current Covid-19 regulations.
Residents and businesses are kindly requested to ensure that their taps are closed during this period to avoid water loss and/or damage when the supply is restored.
The City regrets any inconvenience caused.
