I am proud that the City of Cape Town is once again hosting the international HSBC Sevens World Series here in this beautiful city and at our world-class Cape Town Stadium.

I would like to wish all the visitors, the teams, the players, and their support and management staff a warm welcome to the City of Cape Town.

It is thanks to your contribution to hosting successful events such as this one that Cape Town was named the World’s Leading Festival and Events Destination at the 2018 World Travel Awards earlier this week.

A total of 115 396 people assembled at the Cape Town Stadium for the 2017 event and this means significant economic spin-offs for the city and its residents, including job creation opportunities, increased spending at our attractions and across the hospitality industry.

The City of Cape Town is once again honoured to have all players, coaches, teams, staff, spectators and organisers visit our beautiful city.

Yesterday I met with the defending Sevens World Series champions, our very own Blitzbokke Springbok Sevens, and was thankful for the signed jersey that they presented to me. The whole of Cape Town, and the whole country, is behind them as they look to secure another title.
