Emerging hockey stars shoot for glory at premier hockey tournament

The tournament will feature boys and girls teams from 64 schools, including visiting squads from Namibia and the UK.The tournament will attract approximately one thousand hockey players from local, national and international schools.
In Cape Town, games will be played at Pinelands High School, Bishops Diocesan College in Rondebosch, SACS in Newlands, Rustenburg Girls High School in Rosebank, Parel Vallei High School, Somerset College and Beaumont Primary School – all in Somerset West.
'The Cape Town International Hockey Tournament is the pinnacle for young hockey players around the country. Over the last 19 years, the tournament has played a critical role in providing a platform for emerging local hockey players to compete against some of the best from across the country and abroad. The City is proud to be a sponsor of a tournament that contributes to the development of young, talented players in the country. We are looking forward to welcoming all the participants to our city and to see them in action,' said Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith.
The teams will collectively play over 200 games between Wednesday and Sunday with the bulk of the games played at Cape Town venues.
Games will be played from 08:00 until 20:45.
Entry at the venues is free.
