Edgemead Neighbourhood Watch receives donation of radio equipment

28 April 2016

Ward Councillor Helen Carstens yesterday handed over two-way radios to the Edgemead Neighbourhood Watch. The security equipment was made available through ward allocation funding.

‘Neighbourhood watches play a pivotal and sometimes unrecognized role in our communities and community volunteers often do selfless acts that go unnoticed by many.

‘It is in the interest of the greater community to assist and capacitate these wonderful people who give up so much of their free time for the greater good of the community and I trust that these radios will aide and assist them further.

‘These radios will put them in touch with each other while they are out patrolling and one radio, held by the chairman, will connect to the Metro Police base station.  This will mean that serious activities can be logged directly with Metro Police to ensure rapid response,’ said Cllr Carstens.
