Community unites to rehabilitate Muizenberg Park

14 June 2016

On Freedom Day, 27 April 2016, the Friends of Muizenberg Park arranged for a group of community volunteers to upgrade the existing public park with assistance from the City Parks department and SAPS volunteers.

The City Parks department assisted with the landscaping of the park and advised on the selection and placement of plants to beautify the area. A local NPO, Herbinisation, very kindly donated over 100 plants for the occasion and these were planted with assistance from the many community volunteers and SAPS staff who participated in the rehabilitation of the park.

The park upgrade served as a great community-building activity and the park now serves as a pleasant recreational space for residents where they can connect with nature, meditate and play.

The photo inset shows volunteers hard at work bedding down some of the plants in Muizenberg Park.

Residents who wish to remain involved can contact the Friends of Muizenberg Park via their Facebook page or by emailing chair@muizenbergpark.org.za.
