The City’s Sports, Recreation and Amenities Department, in consultation with Subcouncil 14, successfully hosted the annual Ward 39 Councillor’s Community Festival on 30 April 2016 at the KTC Community Hall in Nyanga. 

 

Ward 39 forms part of Subcouncil 14 which includes areas such as Hlazo Village, KTC and Lusaka. Community members and residents of the surrounding areas participated in this jubilant event. Netball, soccer, jumping castles, slip and slides, face-painting, board games and many more activities were on offer on the day.

 

The well-attended fun walk which started and finished at Mjodo Street had water points at Sihlume Street and at NY 3 along the way. Stage performances by the youth featured a variety of musical genres and contributed to the day’s entertainment.

 

The City hopes to instil a culture of sustainable healthy lifestyles in the community. It also hopes to encourage non-active community members to start being more active in the various programmes within their communities.
