The work is planned to take two weeks to complete, pending unforeseen and inclement weather.

The work will take place between 08:00 and 17:00, Monday to Saturday.

The work entails repairs to subbase failed sections of road, including:

  • The removal of failed base sections
  • The removal of old damaged brick paving
  • Replacement with new base material
  • Replacement with new red brick paving

Traffic moving in both directions will be affected and flag personnel will regulate traffic in one direction at a time, by means of a stop-and-go system.

‘Road users are advised to keep away from the demarcated work areas as this will help regulate the flow of traffic and pedestrian movement. Residents may park vehicles in driveways as usual, if and when access is available,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Transport, Alderman Felicity Purchase.

Vehicles parked in the road and obstructing the maintenance work, will be moved or towed away.

‘Although no congestion is expected, road users are advised to consider alternative routes. We thank you for your cooperation and patience during the construction period,’ said Alderman Purchase.
