City thanks donors in disaster relief efforts

As disaster relief efforts gather momentum following the fire in Masiphumelele this week, work still continues to assist the thousands of persons displaced by a fire in Dunoon earlier this month. Read more below:
The City's Disaster Risk Management Centre has led calls for donations to augment humanitarian relief efforts.
Donations have been received from members of the public, the Shoprite Group and the Universal Church.
In one of the latest donations to assist residents of Dunoon, the Chinese Consul General handed over goods at the Milnerton Fire Station on Wednesday, 21 January 2026.
The donation included 500 blankets, 500 kettles, 100 mattresses, rice, noodles, water, cereal and tissue paper.
