​The contractor and officials from the Water and Sanitation Directorate have been working closely to contain the spill. Several City departments are involved.

Signage has been installed with immediate effect informing the public that a section of the beach on the eastern side of the Strand pavilion is closed until further notice.

Efforts are under way to restore the integrity of the sewer line.

The public is advised to please adhere to the signage. We will inform the public accordingly, once the beach is open again for recreational use.
