City reports significant increase in water and sewer pipe replacements in November

Pipeline replacement forms part of the Water and Sanitation Directorate's strategy to reduce the number of sewer spills and to provide efficient sanitation services.

In October, 5 426m of water pipes and 4 887m of sewer pipes were replaced marking a significant increase in November with 7 777m of water pipes and 7 236m of sewer pipes.

Pipeline replacement forms part of the Water and Sanitation Directorate's strategy to reduce the number of sewer spills and to provide efficient sanitation services.

​​​​Over the new financial year, from July 2023 to June 2024, the City has budgeted a total of R863,6 million to invest in water and sewer pipe replacements city-wide.

​​'The City is working hard to give effect to its Water Strategy to ensure sufficient and high-quality drinking water into the future as well as a reliable wastewater service thereby ensuring a dignified service to citizens and a healthy environment,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Water and Sanitation, Councillor Zahid Badroodien.
