City reminds residents and visitors of road closures for Two Oceans Marathon

Cape Town will once again play host to one of the biggest annual sporting events – the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon – which takes place over the Easter weekend of 25 and 26 March 2016.

Thousands of local and international runners are set to participate in the world’s most beautiful marathon and residents are urged to please familiarise themselves with the road closure schedule and parking restrictions so as to avoid inconvenience.

To accommodate the fun runs on Friday, 25 March 2016 and the ultra- and half-marathons on Saturday, 26 March 2016 a number of road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect. The full schedule of road closures is as follows:

25 March 2016 (Good Friday)

Due to the fun-run programme, the leftmost lane of the M3 northbound carriageway will be closed between Rhodes Drive and the University of Cape Town off-ramp as from 09:00 until 13:30.

Parking restrictions on Saturday, 26 March 2016

Residents in the following areas are requested to please refrain from parking on the following sections of road during the race:

Main Road, between Klipper Road and San Souci Road
Protea Road (M3), between Main Road and Edinburgh Drive
Main Road, between Atlantic Road, Muizenberg, and Fish Hoek police station
Kommetjie Road between 17th Avenue and the Fish Hoek Circle (left lane only)

Rhodes Memorial will be accessible to the public from the M3 northbound via Newlands Avenue/Klipper Road and Princess Anne Avenue. Direct access from the M3 will only be via the southbound carriageway.

Traffic officers will be deployed to manage traffic, and directional signage will be erected. Residents are urged to please plan around these closures so as to minimise inconvenience.
