City postpones shut down of Tygerberg water pipeline

22 October 2021

Tygerberg water pipeline shut down postponed.

Faure is the City’s largest treatment plant, and this facility being offline puts the rest of the network under pressure. Undertaking work on a major supply line under these conditions would greatly increase disruption to residents. As such, the work will be undertaken at a later date where the City can ensure disruption to residents is minimised.

Consumers will be notified in advance when the shutdown will be done, which will see the completion of a project initiated in May this year, when the faulty valve was removed and sent for repair.

The City sincerely regrets any inconvenience caused to the consumers in the following water supply areas:

Brooklyn, Sanddrift, Tygerhof, Rugby, Century City, Paarden Eiland, Joe Slovo, Phoenix, Kensington, Acacia Park and Goodwood.
