A new layer of asphalt needs to be laid along this portion of Voortrekker Road as the existing road is old and currently has a dry surface with base and surface failures. 

‘Residents who travel along Voortrekker Road will soon be able to benefit from these works. The resurfacing of this key arterial road will improve road safety conditions and commuting quality. We thank residents for their patience while we carry out this maintenance work to extend the longevity of the road,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas. 

The works will comprise of the surfacing of the westbound carriageway and eastbound carriageway of Voortrekker Road. It will however exclude the intersections of Robert Sobukwe Road and Voortrekker Road, and Voortrekker Road and Durban Road.
