City continues with the resurfacing of Old Paarl Road

6 March 2023

Portion of Old Paarl Road being resurfaced

The City has decided to execute the required work at night due to the high volume traffic on Old Paarl Road. The road resurfacing will therefore take place between 21:00 and 04:00 from Monday to Friday.

‘Residents from the surrounding areas can expect a level of noise while work on Old Paarl Road is under way, however we believe that the work at night will ensure that this project has the least impact on traffic congestion in the area. The team are on site busy with the preparation work and will start the evening work next week. We want to complete the work along this main road as soon as possible and thank residents for their patience while work is under way,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

The City will ensure that flag personnel direct traffic around the work area.

The City’s Road Infrastructure Management Department will be milling out the existing road surfacing and replacing it with a new asphalt road surface. Road markings will be repainted once the road surface has been installed. This work forms part of regular maintenance to prolong the longevity of the city’s road network.
