22 March 2022
The City of Cape Town’s Road Infrastructure Management Department has commenced with the resurfacing of various roads in Grassy ParkUp to 3km of road will be resurfaced in this project along the following roads:
- Botterblom Road
- Dieman Road
- Le Roux Avenue
- Goudblom Road
- Joseph Avenue
- Reddy Avenue
- Johns Road
- Hector Crescent
- Owen Road
- East Close
- West Road
The project will also include kerb repair work and the marking of roads across the Grassy Park area. This forms part of the City’s regular maintenance to prolong the longevity of the city’s road network and improve road safety for all road users.
The work will take place Monday to Friday, from 07:30 to 17:00, from today, 22 March 2022 until 8 April 2022, if all goes as planned.
‘This work is much needed in Grassy Park. Improved road surfaces is one of the ways we can enhance the safety for all road users in the area. The repainting of all existing road markings in Grassy Park will also give the roads across the suburb a face lift, and improve visibility ahead of winter when heavy rainfall and mist are common. I urge residents to please be patient while the work is under way and comply with the signage. Once complete, everyone will benefit from the neat and improved roads,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
Road users are informed that traffic moving in both directions will be affected and flag personnel will regulate traffic in one direction at a time. Work areas will be temporarily demarcated to regulate traffic flow. Parked vehicles that obstruct the construction works will be moved or towed away to avoid interfering with the work.
