City commences with road resurfacing along Prince George Drive
28 January 2025
The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate would like to advise the public of road resurfacing works along Prince George Drive (southbound in the direction of Muizenberg) between 5th Avenue and Joe Marks Boulevard in Retreat. Read more below:
The works will commence today, 28 January 2025 with the aim to complete it by Wednesday, 19 March 2025, weather permitting and provided there are no unforeseen delays.
The work will take place between 09:00 and 15:30 from Monday to Saturday and will include the milling off of the existing asphalt surface, localised base repairs, and replacing damaged kerbs. The road surfaces will be repaved with new asphalt and the guardrails will also be replaced.
The road resurfacing along this portion of Prince George Drive will extend the lifespan of this major arterial road in Cape Town and will provide better driving conditions and riding quality for road users. Well maintained and safe roads are one of the ways in which we keep Cape Town moving. We ask that residents please reduce their speed around the work zones and watch out for uneven surfaces while these works are under way,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
